Reimagine PHILLY's Art Party!

Come to this art event! I am responsible for organizing the art show and it will be a lot of great local artists and PAFA graduate students! Full Disclosure: Alex and a few of his friends began the organization but its a really awesome cause, a great time and a good way to support the arts in Philly. Check more details out here....

Harry Stooshinoff

I love these little works by Harry Stooshinoff, a canadian painter of mainly landscapes. He says on his blog that he goes out and quickly sketches a composition that catches his eye and then comes back to the studio and works primarily from the memory of looking and drawing. I think this is really palpable in the way he reduces the images to major relationships and confident brushstrokes. However, they all seem to have poignant, odd little details that make them so wonderful...I know the exact feeling of remembering these little things when you go to paint from memory. His works are never generalized or repeated, all of them feel like fresh investigations. And one of the best things is they are affordable and for sale on his etsy site! I can't wait until I have a few dollars to purchase a few of these and support the artists whose work I love!

The Clay Studio

Installation Shot of For The Table: Dinnerware

Last weekend I went down to Old City for the First Friday festivities. It was pretty cold and dreary and I have to say the paintings matched that attitude. I was ready to leave uninspired when we popped into the Clay Studio. They have a show up (pictured above) of beautiful and quirky pieces of tableware. Of course, I am obsessed with this stuff anyway but I think anyone would enjoy the show. There was even a siamese(?) cereal bowl, I guess you can share milk with your significant other? So funny. I wanted to own everything, paint everything and eat out of everything. So if you are reading this and want to get me a present....go here.
